Our Competitors
We Googled, Yahooed and Binged "emr psychiatry programs", and after having to enter a whole bunch of personal information, were presented with a list of
10 potential competitors. Here is the link:
Every one of these folks required that we divulge even more personal information, and required that we make an appointment to
schedule a "demo". None of them were up front about the actual program features, ease of use, and other important considerations
that any sane person would require before making a purchase, such as the cost, and whether the program in question might actually
do what one might need it to do. So, we leave it to you, valued visitor to this site, to determine whether this is the way to go...
I already have an EMR program! Why you?
This program started out as a useful adjunct to seeing patients in real time, with everything MedScape, MedicineNet,
Epocrates, rxList, MPR, and MedLine had to offer only a mouse-clck away. Then, it was found to be extremely useful
to print out prescriptions, patient hand-outs, informed-consent and other forms, and do instant dictation and on-line translation.
It was also very usefult to have the APA- and FDA-approved medications for all of the the new DSM-5 conditions
right at your finger-tips. None of these functions appear to be standard components of any of the EMR programs that
we have reviewed. We then found that we greatly preferred using this program in comparison to other programs such as
NextGen, Athena, and Practice Fusion, to name but a few, so we added the EMR functions for patient record-keeping, and billing.
Bottom line: even though you might already have an EMR program, you are sure to find this program to be an indispensible adjunct in
your practice.
So why no actual DEMO?
Like all cloud-based EMR programs worth their salt, this program requires a secure database on the server.
The folks that run most Internet servers won't let you create a database programmatically: you have to use a utility called
"phpMyAdmin" to set up a database manually for each user, presumably for security reasons. If we had a ready-made "demo" database for all users, they would
see every other user's patient information. Bad idea! So, we did the next best thing: show scads of screenshots of the program, and
show the online Help file (see below) that comes with the program, which explains how everthing works. If you really wan't to see a demo, please call us
at
707-413-0786
and we will set one up for you. No need to divulge any personal information.
How much does it cost?
The special introductory price is $149, marked down $50 from the regular price, for a limited time.
For interns, residents, and other persons in training who qualify, the price is $99. You get one year free
updates and technical support from the time of purchase, and a $50 discount for annual updates.
If we implement a useful function that you suggest, we will give you a $50 cash prize!
Is it really effective?
Yes, very much so. (Please check out the “Links”, which contain information about some of the numerous studies that have shown the effectiveness of online mental health services.) We are very experienced clinicians, having worked in private practice and at major medical schools for many years, and having won numerous awards for clinical practice, research, and teaching. Virtually all of our patients have claimed that the online experience is superior to the experience of traveling to and waiting to be seen at a standard treatment facility. The sessions are totally private and secure, and all information is strictly privileged. The sessions are one-on-one, person-to-person, with sessions scheduled at the patient’s convenience and with no waiting time involved.
What about medications?
We are fully licensed and insured to dispense medications over the Internet in a number of different states. Some pain medications require the signature of a local physician, usually the family doctor, with whom we make the appropriate arrangements.
What is the down-side?
We have yet to encounter any significant difficulties or lack of effectiveness, compared to private practice. As with any doctor-patient interaction, the chief goals are to establish an enduring sense of trust, and the ability to come to terms with the challenges one faces.
